HOW CLOSE ARE WE TO MIDNIGHT?

In the book Nearing Midnight (A Look Into Revelation and the end Times) author Alfred Adams does a chapter by chapter outline of one of the hardest books from the Bible. I picked up a copy of this book on a flight to New York from Dallas. It was the title that got me, and the cover. After reading it I started to think about the left behind series when the rapture takes place on a flight from Europe back to the states. It hit me right then, we are “Nearing Midnight”.

After I got back to Dallas I wanted to contact the person behind the book to find out why he feels we are so near to the rapture. After I got a hold of Mr. Adams, I booked a flight and was on my way to New Orleans; home of great food and great Jazz music. Once there I seen in the airports a lot of voodoo dolls and no, I am not talking about the arena football team either. I mean dolls and instructions as to how to use it on people. At this point I was not sure what I was getting myself into. I check into my hotel and made the call to Mr. Adams so we could meet.

[Michael] Mr. Adams how are you?
[Adams] Fine thank you for asking me, did you have a good flight?
[Michael] Funny you should ask; why is it that in the airport they had voodoo dolls for sale?
[Adams] Well, New Orleans does have the religion of voodoo here. Not something I am into, but it is still here; I think something like 20 per-cent still practice voodoo.
[Michael] Do you think that is one of the End Time Signs?
[Adams] Without question, it does not lead you Christ. It rather pulls you away from Christ. It falls under one of the seven conditions Christ told us the world would be in upon his return.
[Michael] And what condition would that be?
[Adams] Spiritual signs
[Michael] How long have you been studying the End Times and Revelation?
[Adams] About 4 years now
[Michael] What lead to you having an interest in this, I mean people don’t just say I am going to study one of the hardest books of the Bible.
[Adams] (He takes a deep breath) This is a hard one. Not too many people know this other then my mother and a few close friends. (He Takes another deep breath) back in 2001 I was engaged to be married the date was set for February 14, 2001, but in January Kliney got a phone call from Hawaii her dad took ill. By the time she got there her dad had passed away. Since her dad was Hawaiian, they had a Hawaiian funeral, where they burn the body on a raft and push it out to sea. Kliney’s mother was not Hawaiian, she never been to something like this before, it took her off guard. She was so hurt as to what was going on she had a heart attack and dies at the funeral. (He takes another deep breath) No with both her mom and dad passing away we did our best to keep things together. The day of the funeral for her mother, her brother is not there, not thinking the worst, the police show up with the worst, her brother was killed in a motorbike crash on the way to the funeral. Kliney check into a mental institution, we talked a lot and they helped her with some medication. She was released within a day, but two days later she shot and killed herself. (He gets teary eyed) At this point I wanted nothing more then my pain to be taken away I started to study the back of the book, I want Christ to come and I wanted him to come soon.
[Michael] WOW! I am so sorry to hear that. Most people could only image what that would be like to go through something like that.
[Adams] In my teachings I make sure people understand how important faith is. I know if I would have lost faith in Christ I would not be here today.
[Michael] Did this lead to the writing of the book?
[Adams] No. After my dad passed away I wrote the book.
[Michael] When did your dad pass away?
[Adams] June 23, 2004. I started writing the book a few days after his funeral, it took like six weeks to write, I was up some times twenty to twenty-two hrs a day.
[Michael] WOW! Six weeks most books take months to write.
[Adams] Yeah, but I could not sleep so I made the best of it.
[Michael] Did you ever think the book would be selling world wide?
[Adams] No. Not at all did I not even think I could get it published let along for it to be selling in fourteen countries.
[Michael] Do you really think we are close to what people call rapture?
[Adams] Yes.
[Michael] How close?
[Adams] Before this interview is over the rapture can take place. You see there are no set rules as to when Jesus would come only that he would come when the conditions he told us about in Matthew would be happening. And since we are living under these conditions Jesus can come back for his bride at any time.
[Michael] Funny you should call the Church the bride. How do you know you are the bride?
[Adams] Because the Holy Spirit that dwells with you is the engagement ring. (He winks). See Jesus saves the Church from the events to come; the Church will not go through the seven year Tribulation. In fact the Church will not even know as to whom the Antichrist is, we will be gone.
[Michael] Good point that leads me to my next question. Who is the Antichrist?
[Adams] The one the Bible talks about you mean right?
[Michael] Yes.
[Adams] No one really knows no matter what someone tells you it would be a guess. What we do know is where the Antichrist will come from.
[Michael] And that is?
[Adams] Europe. The Bible tells us that it is from a government system the Antichrist will hail from. A lot of people get the Antichrist mixed up with the False Prophet. They are two different people.
[Michael] Leads me to my next question, who will be the False Prophet?
[Adams] Once again, the Bible does not tell us who it will be, only where he will come from. It will be religions leader, as to whom the Bible does not say. A lot of people have their guesses I am sure, And so do I.
[Michael] And who might that be?
[Adams] (Laughs) Did you read the book Nearing Midnight?
[Michael] Yes why?
[Adams] Now think………got it?
[Michael] Yeah I do ………WOW, yeah it would make sense.
[Adams] (Winks)
[Michael] How have your speaking tour been going?
[Adams] Been going good a lot of people are seeing things from a different side but it is nothing really new. The one thing I am shocked to see is that when people are asked about Jesus for the first time or asked about their salvation the Second Coming is never really mentioned to them. My thing is if you are not looking for Him your not ready to meet Him.
[Michael] True, I never looked at it like that before. When I was asked about Christ no one ever told me about Him coming back for years.
[Adams] That is what I am talking about. That is very important to tell people about His Coming and coming soon. What gets me are the money mission pastors that are always looking for that buck. Just thing if the rapture would take place during a fund raiser? I guess if he was really saved we will know. If he was more into it for the money we will know that too.
[Michael] How does that make you feel to see the Mega Ministries keep growing with more and more money and less and less talk about Christ coming back?
[Adams] Well, not all Mega Ministries do that. Some do teach the Second Coming. And some are not called to teach it by GOD. Some are asked by GOD to teach healing. Not every one is cut out for this job you know. I been punched, slapped, spit on, and called some very bad names, not to mention e-mail death threats.
[Michael] WOW! People have sent e-mail to you saying they were going to kill you?
[Adams] Oh yeah, we took care of it with the right authorities. I don’t take my salvation lightly.
[Michael] What can you tell our readers about Christ coming back?
[Adams] I think it is time to wake up and start looking for the signs they are all around us, in the newspapers, on television, in our own back yards for that matter. If you have not asked Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior, I ask you to do so now. Life is like the banking system, Yesterday is a check that has been paid on, today is all the money you have, and tomorrow is a promissory note or an I.O.U.
After my interview with Mr. Adams he took me to lunch with his business manager DJ. They shown me around the wonderful city of New Orleans told me the history and we talked more about the End Times. No matter how wonderful a place may look, with its tall buildings, big bridges, great hospitals, and international airports, all of this will be gone in the blink of an eye………..
